Compellent Storage Center Named “Best SAN” for Second Consecutive Year
Compellent Technologies, Inc. today announced its storage area network (SAN) was named “Best SAN” as part of the InfoWorld 2008 Technology of the Year Awards. Having also won in 2006, Compellent is the first enterprise storage provider to earn the “Best SAN” distinction in consecutive years (Editor’s note: InfoWorld did not designate a Best SAN award in 2007).
IDG's InfoWorld, the leading integrated media brand for IT decision makers, recognized 45 products across nine general categories in its 2008 Technology of the Year honors. Selected by InfoWorld Test Center editors and reviewers, the annual awards identify the best and most innovative products on the IT landscape.
"InfoWorld tests upwards of 200 IT products every year, and we see many, many good ones," said Doug Dineley, InfoWorld's Test Center Executive Editor. "Our Technology of the Year award winners represent not only the cream of the crop, but the best products in the most important product categories. From the top AJAX development tools and SOA middleware to the best blade servers and VoIP systems, these are the products at the leading edge of IT."
According to InfoWorld, “The Compellent Storage Center is the best SAN we've tested, with the broadest feature set and the greatest ease of use…Compellent's level of maturity, both in feature set and ease of use, places it alone at the pinnacle of midrange systems and even compares favorably with top-tier systems." The SAN received a perfect score of ten for manageability when reviewed by InfoWorld, supported by first-rate marks for its automated tiered storage, scalability and Copilot support program.
“From the start, our product has been infused with feedback from end-users and channel partners, resulting in a technology that meets constantly changing storage needs,” explained Phil Soran, president and CEO, Compellent. “Companies continue to seek out SAN systems that allow them to cut storage, power and cooling costs to make their data centers greener and easier to manage with existing resources. We’re thrilled to share this honor with our loyal customer base and dedicated business partners.”
The Compellent SAN has been reviewed extensively by the InfoWorld Test Center for the past three years.
InfoWorld's Technology of the Year Awards are not open to outside nominations. Winners are drawn from all of the products tested during the past year, with the final selections made by InfoWorld's Test Center staff. All products reviewed by the Test Center are eligible to win.
